Uranium Overview
Uranium’s most significant use is to provide nuclear fuel for the generation of electricity. Through the process of nuclear fission, the uranium isotope U235 can undergo a nuclear reaction whereby its nucleus is split into smaller particles. As the nucleus is split, a significant amount of heat energy is released, which is used as the basis of power generation in nuclear power plants.
